The aim of ‘The Promise’ is to inspire people to plant real trees in the real world.

You can do this in your garden of course but the Promise is also working with conservation charity ‘The World Land Trust’ to plant trees and preserve forests all over planet Earth. Every time The Promise (or most of Nicola Davies’ other books) is borrowed from a UK public library the Public Lending Right payment goes straight to the WLT.

Broadcaster, conservationist and UK National Treasure Sir David Attenborough is Patron of the WLT and says

“The money that is given to the World Land Trust, in my estimation, has more effect on the wild world than almost anything I can think of.”

WLT has projects in many parts of the world and works with local people so that when forests are safeguarded and trees planted people as well as wildlife benefit.
